I got up around 7:30 and took Wiggin out for his morning potty break. Instead of having my usual oatmeal breakfast I decided I would drive on to Idaho Falls and have breakfast there. I got back on the road and drove to the actual waterfall the town is named after. There I found a nice place to park in the shade right next to the falls.
The Diablas Restaurant was close by so I went there for breakfast. I sat at the bar which I prefer when I am by myself. I had a typical two egg breakfast and it was better than average but not great.
After breakfast I rode my bike around to the other side of the falls. When I first came to Utah I worked on a seismograph crew for Continental Oil, CONOCO One of the places we explored was a potential oil deposit near Idaho Falls. When we were there we stayed in the Tower Best Western Hotel. It looks like it is now a Quality Inn. Unlike most other oil exploration companies that used explosives to shake the surrounding ground, Conoco used several trucks with large platforms that were lowered onto the ground and forced to vibrate using hydraulics. There were geophones placed in the ground in front and behind the trucks which picked up the subsonic vibrations. The geophones were connected to a control van that recorded the results. The van also sent out a radio signal to trigger all the trucks to vibrate in sync. There was crew in front of the trucks setting the geophones in the ground and a crew behind the trucks picking them up the geophones. Another crew transport the geophones from the back to the front. It was very hot and dusty work.
After I got back to the car I took Wiggin for a walk heading north on the west side of the falls. I came across an elderly couple relaxing on one of the swing benches along the trail. The had both lost their spouses a few years ago. They met at a dance and she said he swept her off her feet. I'm not sure if she meant that literally. They have now been married to each other for around 10 years.
After our walk I got back on the road headed to Ronan. It was a longer drive than I anticipated. I shouldn't have messed around in Idaho Falls so long.
Tonight's Airbnb is very nice. The host doesn't typically allow pets but they said if I kept Wiggin in a kennel it would be okay.
As I was carrying in the kennel I met the other guest staying for the night. They were a nice young couple. I think they had just finished dinner and I was hoping they might have some leftovers they would be wanting to get rid of but they didn't offer any. After I got the kennel set up I went back to the car and took Wiggin for a walk.
As I was carrying Wiggin in I met the host and his wife. She informed me that I needed to remove my shoes whenever I came in. They didn't want the carpet to get dirty. I'm so glad I don't have carpet in my Airbnb. I plan to get rid of the carpet in the basement in the near future. I will install a laminated hardwood floor.
The room was really nice. It had a nice balcony overlooking the backyard. I think they should add a Roku TV. I would also get a small table or portable serving station to put the small frig and microwave on. As it is the microwave is on top of the fridge which is setting on the floor. There was a room AC unit which was vented through a duct in the wall. Very nicely done. The husband is a teacher at a school within walking distance. The wife does massage in the home.
After getting settled in I worked on some of the blog. At first Wiggin wasn't happy being in the kennel but after a while he settled down. The bed was very comfortable and I fell asleep quickly.
