Saturday 20 Mar 21 Katy's Cafe
20 Mar 21
Woke up around 7:30 just as the sun was coming up. The rain had stopped sometime during the night. I let the dogs out for their morning potty break. There were already several cars in the parking lot. I had told Uncle Orman that I would meet Marion at the cafe around 9 for breakfast. Afterwards I became worried that the cafe would only have take out because of the CCP Virus. Governor Newsome had mandated that there would be no indoor dining and to the best of my knowledge that policy was still in force. All the Burger King stores were only offering takeout and from past experience they were the one chain that typically offered indoor dining. However, with all the cars it appeared that indoor dining was allowed. I walked into the lobby to make sure before I called Marion. she said it would be at least 10 minutes before she got there so I went in and got a table for us. She arrived within in a few minutes and we introduced ourselves. Marion had lived in California since she was 5 years old. I was surprised when she told me that she had met Mom and Dad in Carthage Missouri several years ago. Through Uncle Orman she knew that they had both passed away last year. We had a great breakfast each of us having swedish pancakes and talked for over two hours. As we were leaving she drove over to aRTy and gave me several oranges she had picked from her tree. Marion is an very nice lady and I hope she takes up my offer to stay at my Airbnb.
After I left the cafe I drove to an Ace Hardware store and bought some hardware to convert a phone mount to where it would clamp onto my old Garmin GPS dash mount. It took a couple of trips in the store to get it set up but ultimately it worked great.
Later I filled up with fuel and got in the road to Morro Bay California. It is one of my top five places in the US and since it was less than two hours away I couldn't go home without visiting there again.
It was a very windy drive but there were some very nice views. So many vineyards then beautiful rolling hills. I arrived in Morro Bay in later afternoon and there was a very strong wind coming off the ocean. I drove past all the gift shops and came to a large parking lot at the end of the street. I saw another camper van that appeared to be parked for the night. I found a level spot right next to the water with a beautiful view of several moored sailboats with Morro Rock in the background.
After dinner I had one of the oranges that Marion have me. Wow, maybe I do like oranges.
After dark I took care of some routine tasks such as filling all my water containers from a fish cleaning station and dumping my night pans in the public restroom. I crawled in bed afterwards and called it a day.
