Baby Back Ribs

Thursday 9Apr20 My First Western

Day 84

Pete woke me up at 5:45 needing to pee. After I got back in the RT I secured everything and got on the road to Cheyenne Wyoming. Once I was in Cheyenne I found a Walmart and parked.

I remember the first time I was in Cheyenne. Dad had been transferred from Tinker AFB in OKC to Hill AFB in Ogden Utah. Because Janet was still in school Mom, Janet and I stayed in OkC until Janet got out of school for the summer. I think the Monday after Easter in 1975 Dad left in the 1974 Dodge pickup pulling the  Nomad travel trailer. Once in Utah he rented a spot in a mobile home park just outside the south gate of the base.

Once school was out the three of us left for Utah. I think I drove the entire trip. Mom and I had a lot of time to talk on that trip and she later said she really got to know me during that trip. I don't remember much about it but one thing I remembered was that we stayed the last night in Cheyenne Wyoming.  The next morning we were at a cafe and I was trying to figure out what to order and Mom asked me if I like omelettes. I had never had one and told her so. She suggested I should try one. After checking the menu at all the choices I decided that since I was out west I should order a Western omelette. Funny what you remember!

I stayed at the WM most of the day posting some blog entries from last May. I also added the last couple of blog entries from the current roadtrip.. I really like the ability to add hyperlinks to the entries. In the future I will link to more external sites.

In the evening I packed up and drove to a park where another unique locomotive was on display. This was the largest steam locomotive ever built. The "Big Boys". There were only 25 built. They were primarily used to go from Cheyenne to Ogden Utah. Another one of the 25 Big Boys is at the Train Museum in Ogden Utah.

I took the dogs with me to checkout the Locomotive and there were a lot of other dogs in the park which can be a bit difficult since Wiggin loves to socialize.

I noticed a lady in a SUV trashing about wildly. She was obvious high on some drug. I feel so bad for people who waste  their lives away on drugs.

After the park I drove to the Cheyenne Depot Plaza. It was pretty much shut down but I took some photos. After that I walked a couple of blocks to pick up some Baby Back Ribs and took them back to the RT for dinner.

After dinner I found a good parking spot in a residential area and stayed there for the night.
