Day 77

Got up at 8:30.  It was a beautiful sunny morning. After breakfast I started thinking about what Rainey had said on a phone call we'd had yesterday. After I told her that I typically went into the Walmart I parked over night at she was concerned that I might become exposed to the Coronavirus. She thought that the virus might be airborne and suggested I use socks or something as a face mask. As a joke I created a face mask from some items I had in the RT. A paper bowl, a coffee filter, some duct tape and a small bungee cord. Later I heard on the radio that the president may suggest that people going out in public wear a face mask. I guess the joke is on me.

Later I got access to the inverter and turned it on. I decided that since it was such  a beautiful day I would go check out a local attraction and work on converting the 8MM tapes another day.

I drove downtown and checked out the Sunsphere. It was built for the 1982 World's Fair. The structure is 266 feet high. It is topped by a 75 foot golden glass globe.

After taking a few  photos of the Sunsphere I took a skybridge towards downtown. There were a few people milling about but very few businesses were open.

When I got back to the RT I saw a puddle of liquid under it. I investigates and saw water dripping from the weep hole of the water pump. Luckily I had filled an empty Sangria jug with water a few days ago. I filled the radiator and overflow tank then drove to a Walmart and bought some coolant leak stop. It appears that it doesn't leak as long as the engine is running. I don't think it would be a good idea to replace the water pump while I am on the road. If I broke a bolt or something similar it could be a big problem. I will just assure I have plenty of water on hand and head for home. I will add the stop leak next time I have to add water. I parked for the night at the Walmart and had a salad for dinner. I will get in the road for home in the morning.
