Day 73
When I finally looked at my messages from last night I saw one from Uncle Orman that made me realize I might have made a mistake last night
He highly recommend that I checked out Beaufort South Carolina which I had knowingly chosen to drive past last night.
I had been a little disappointing at not being able to get to the beach on Typee Island and I had to think long and hard on whether I would drive back 60 miles to checkout Beaufort. Uncle Orman has never streered me wrong and because of him I have seen some amazing places. He might be a little biased on Beaufort because this is where he met his lovely wife Francis.
After cleaning up from breakfast I took a much needed shower and then headed out for Beaufort.
Lady Google took me on an amazing route through several tree canopied back roads on the way there.
Once there I drove through town and parked on the last street "Bay Street" before an old trestle bridge.
I took a walk east of downtown as Uncle Orman had suggested and witnessed some amazing southern homes that were built before the Civil War. I walked on through the Waterfront Park and read about the history of this amazing town.
On the grounds of an old Church I saw graves that were set prior to the Revolutionary War. I saw a grave of a Revolution General as well as a Civil War General. What a beautiful Church in a beautiful village.
When I got back to the RT I made a salad and took it and the dogs to have lunch on the lawn of a small park overlooking the waterfront. Wiggin was fascinated by all the crabs banishing their large claws for all rivals and potential mates to see.
After lunch I walked downtown on Bay Street. A few shops were opened and I couldn't help thinking how much my sister's would enjoy this quaint village.
Before leaving town I drove to the Baptist Church where Uncle Orman and Aunt Francis met and ultimately got married. I can totally understand how a person could fall in love in such a beautiful setting.
I got back on the Hi-way heading to Charlotte North Carolina. I made it as far as Columbia South Carolina where I found a Walmart and parked for the night.
