Saturday 28Mar20 Tybee Island
Day 72
I got up at 8. After Pete did his morning routine I took him back into the RT and fed him. While he was eating I took Wiggin on a walk around the Rest Stop.
Back at the RT I fixed breakfast for me and Wiggin.
After cleaning up I just listened to some music and enjoyed the cool morning breeze for an hour or so.
Around 11 I got on the road heading to Jacksonville. On the north side of town I stopped for fuel at a Sam's Club. Fuel was $1.76. I got back on the road and drove without stopping until I got to Tybee Island. The beaches were all closed so I took the dogs for a long walk. There was a seafood restaurant open for take out so I ordered a fish por-boy sandwich. There was a nice redhead lady there ordering take out as well. She was from New York. Her accent would give her away if she said anything else. Her husband's family had a place there. She worked for the New York City Courts which had shutdown from the Coronavirus.
Once I got my sandwich I ate it on their outdoor bar. I had eaten at this restaurant before on one of my trips here.
It was pretty dark by the time I finished and walked back to the RT. I decided I would stop by the lighthouse on my way off the island. I was able to get a few good photos of the lighthouse with the Moon and Venus in the background.
Once I was off the island I headed towards Charleston. After just a few miles on Hiway 17 I decided that I wouldn't be much point in going to Charleston. I'm sure the beaches and the rest of the city would be shutdown just like Tybee Island and the beaches in Florida. I turned around and got back on 1-95 headed north. I drove to a Walmart in Walterboro.
