Day 50

Got up at 8 to a partly cloudy sky. It was very wind and the sand was blowing and drifting just like snow at home. I prefer blowing snow on the beach over blowing snow on my driveway any day. After the dogs had their potty break I gave them their food and fixed breakfast. The morning was spent walking the beach looking for unique shells. I found several white clams where both half's were still attached. The water is pretty cold but I think I could stand it for a few minutes. With the wind I would freeze before I could get back to the RT though. I have definitely taken baths in colder water in the lakes of the  Wind Rivers.

I decided to ride the bike back to Freeport and get some coffee at the Surfside Grocery Store. There was a patio and I sat there and updated my budget while having my coffee.

I tested and made sure I could turn on the webcam with my phone and checked on the dogs. I am really pleased at how well the system works. There is some delay between panning commands and the corresponding updated video orientation but workable now that I am aware of it.

Back at the RT I fixed rice and some canned fish for lunch. It was very good. After lunch I was able to get the kite up. It flew very well as long as the wind was blowing at least 10 mph.

Wiggin was out with me while I flew the kite. I was surprised at how much he liked to walk in the surf.

After I put the kite away I grabbed Pete so he could get some exercise and fresh air. I just let him check out all the various scents while I kept close by. I decided to give Wiggin a bike ride before I loaded the bike back. On the rack.

After I got the bike covered I went inside and fixed chicken chow mein for dinner. It was good and there was a lot of it.

After dinner I watched my all time favorite TV program "The Andy Griffith Show".

After a bit I went outside to check out the night sky. At 9 the moon was almost directly overhead. A very high inclination. Because the moon was past half moon its brilliance washed out  all but the brightest stars. I did find Polaris and following across to the beach it was obvious that it doesn't run straight East and West but Northeast to Southwest just as it should considering where I am currently located in Texas.

After a little stargazing I went inside and fed the dogs. I laid down and drafted the blog entry.
