Sunday 16Feb20 Dad's 100th Birthday Party

Day 31

Woke up at 7. Fed the dogs then went it to check on Mom and Dad who were still a sleep. I played the piano until Mom came walking by. Waited awhile for Dad but then went to sit with Mom. I checked on Dad a couple of times until he finally came in the dinning room.

After breakfast I went to the room and made the bed. I prepared my present for Dad (green pig). Karen was the first to arrive and went to lunch with Mom. Zack and Shelby, Rainey and Janet show up around noon and we start decorating the lobby. It really looked nice. Rainey always does such a great job. I connected my laptop to the lobby TV and started the slide show of Dad.

Uncle Orman and Aunt Fransis arrived and Francis went to the room and manicured Mom's nails. After the lobby was decorated Us kids went to the room and gave Dad his gifts. I think he really liked the pig that Martha and I bought him.

Back in the lobby, Linda, Christie and Page show up. The photographer, Stephanie that Angie hired begins taking photos and a ton of photos were taken. Mom and Dad were on the couch and the decorations and slideshow was the back drop. Should make for some great photos. Jack and Jackie were there. Lee and Betty were there. Dennis, Rainey's first husband, was there who I had not seen for many years. I got to meet Jon's wife Kayla and her son for the first time. During the party a man came up to me who I recognized and who obviously knew me but I could not figure out who he was. I didn't figure it out until I read Dad's birthday cards. It was our neighbor Roger Bellamy and his wife OMG! He was such a good neighbor to Dad for the last ten years or so that Mom and Dad were on the farm. He mowed the lawn for years and only charged Dad for gas. Probably the most memorable event involving Roger was when the bathroom knob broke and Dad was stuck in the bathroom until Roger came to his rescue.

My poor memory aside I think everyone had a great time visiting with Mom and Dad and the entire family. Mom and Dad stayed on the couch for at least 45 minutes before retiring to their room.

After everyone left I drove Karen to a Mexican restaurant where we met her family for lunch. I had  Lomosaltado (Peruvian dish) and it was very good. After lunch Karen dropped me off at the center and I let the dogs out. I then went to the room and Mom and I went to Dinner. After a bit Zack and Shelby picked me up and we went over to Mike and Rainey's. We all had a great time and I had a great visit with Aunt Fransis.

After a couple of hours we all started leaving and Zack and Shelby took me to the RT. They got out to see the dogs and we wound up talking for almost an hour. It was a great day and everything went perfectly.
