Day 44

Day 44

Got up at 8 and fed the dogs. I decided to have breakfast at Denny's and used card that Martha gave me for Valentine's. I had two eggs, bacon, hash browns and blue berry pancakes with slices of bananas. I young man sat beside me and we had a nice conversation. He lives in Michigan and was in Houston to inspect some pipes which is what he does for a living. They have a scanner that transverses the pipe and inspects it using NDI technologies, all sizes of pipe.

After breakfast I took a shower, which was the first shower I'd had since I left Fountain Brook. After the shower I walked over to a Sporting goods store. They had a 10 foot blue and white kayak by Pelican for $200. It has a 25 inch wide cockpit which would clear the Turbocool evaporative cooler. I will probably pick one up next month.

Back at the RT I decided to work on a few projects. I got access to the short black storage tote on the rear hitch rack and pulled out the 12vdc drill. I found wires, tape  and connectors and modified the drill to be connected to a 12 vdc outlet. I also wired up a 12 vdc plug to an offset two wire connector to connect to the one located by the hitch. I want to use this to charge the motorcycle battery. For some reason the power is not good at the hitch connector. It was getting late so I put off troubleshooting it to another day. I then connected the 12 vdc smartswitch I'd bought from Amazon to a 12 vdc plug with about 10 feet of wire. I want to use the smartswitch to remotely turn the webcam on and off. The main purpose of the webcam is to monitor the dogs when I'm away from the RT. Leaving it on the entire time I'm away would needlessly waste data.

I didn't have an extra 12 vdc outlet that I needed so I decided to walk to a Home Depot near by. They didn't have one there so I walked a little further to a Target. They didn't have one there so I walked to a Walmart. There I found a two gang outlet. I also bought the 12 vdc plug. They had a small LED bar light on clearance. It was marked down to $12 but actually rang up for $9. I will connect this to the second outlet to turn on when I remotely switch on the webcam. I will actually be remotely energizing the two gang outlet that the webcam and light will be plugged into.

I downloaded the ewink software and figured out how to connect the 12 vdc smartswitch to the 94RT Wifi. I tested and sure enough it switched. I will connect up the two gang outlet tomorrow.

The place I am camped is perfect and I will stay here tonight.
