American GI Museum

Day 43.

Woke up at 8:30 and had the usual breakfast. Drove to the American GI Museum. My entrance fee was just $5 as a veteran. I was totally amazed at the museum. It is apparently not well known because I think I was the only guest there for the entire two hours I was inside.. After touring the museum I took Wiggin on a hike around behind the museum building. There was an old rusted anti-aircraft piece with both barrels cut off. The grounds keeper said it was off Iwo Jima. There was also a tank with the gun removed.

Back at the RT I ate part of a sandwich I had previously picked up on clearance at a Walmart. After that I laid down but I don't think I slept.

Around 5:30 I got back on the road and drove about 20 miles to Hempstead. I drove to a couple of gas stations in town and stopped when I found one where I saw a garden hose connected to an outside faucet. I ask the attendant if I could fill my fresh water tank and she said it would be fine. I filled up and switched on the pump and opened and closed valves and faucets until the system held pressure, including the hot water heater. I was happy to see no major leaks. The only thing left to connect is the evaporative cooler.

I then drove to a Walmart where I bought some moca. I stayed there in the parking lot until after feeding the dogs around 8.

I then drove on to a Sam's Club and parked on a road next to a gated apartment or condo complex. There were a lot of 18 wheelers park there as well. I also saw a truck pulling a enclised cargo trailer with an AC on top. There was also a generator in the bed of the truck so I assumed it was a stealth camper setup. I think my cousin Johnny had a similar setup
