Thursday 30Jan20 Desert Museum
Day 14
Some noise woke me around 6. There was a SUV parked on my passenger's side. I decided to leave the area and remotely started the RT to warm it up before I drove away.
I drove to a McDonald's nearby and let the dogs out to potty. I fastened their leashes to the RT and went back in the RT to fix the usual breakfast. After washing dishes I went into McDonald's for coffee and to update my budget. After coffee I drove to Old Tucson but decided not to go in since there were dozens of school buses parked there. The attendant confirmed my fear that there were thousands of kids there.
I had seen Old Tucson years ago when I had a TDY (temporary duty) from Hill AFB to Davis Monthan to make some wiring changes to a T2 mod we had done on an F16. Tail number 86-236 to be exact. At the time the modification was called the DO 109 mod (defense order 109) but later became the CUPID modification. I had left the F-16 program before CUPID came about.
I drove on to the Desert Museum arriving there around 11. I had also visited the Museum during my earlier TDY as well as Biosphere 2 and Kit Peak Observatory. I was only TDY to Tucson for 3-4 days so I must have been one busy dude. I was so impressed with the desert museum that I brought Alison and Zack here to see it several years ago.
This time at the museum I saw the Sanoran Animal Spot Light Program in the indoor theater. An owl, porcupine and skunk were presented. After the program I went back to the RT to walk the dogs and eat a sandwich. I returned to the museum and took the desert loop trail until the Raptor Free Flight Program. Started.
I saw the entire museum and at 5:12 was told that the museum had closed at 5.
Overall the museum was great but it would have been better in a couple more months.
After walking the dogs back at the RT I drove on to Saguara National Park. I arrived to the Visitor's Center after it had closed and just prior to Sunset. After taking several photos I drove North to Interstate 10. I drove back towards Tucson and stopped North of town. I camped behind the Comfort Inn and had beef stew for dinner. After dinner I listened to the questions being presented to the Senate during the Trump Impeachment.
