Yellowstone Northeast entrance

Thursday 6Jun19

Woke up at 7. I had the usual breakfast minus the banana nut bread. During the night I received a message that I had used all my free roaming. That could be a problem in Yellowstone NP.

I went in the store and downloaded the area of Yellowstone from Google Maps. I also bought a new Atlas. It might come in handy. I got on line and found out that Cabela's has dump stations so I headed that way. I decided to join their club, Credit Card. It is free and with it I can dump at any Cabela's or ProBass Shop for fee. They have potable water as well. After getting my waste tanks emptied and my fresh water tank filled I headed to Costco for fuel. If it seems I get a lot of fuel I do. I am not getting as good of mileage as I have in the past. One more thing I will need to work on before I head out again. It seems to be running just fine but the best mileage I've gotten was a little under 12 MPG. I didn't go into Costco today.

After getting gas I headed towards Cooke City Wyoming. The road is 296 and it is amazingly scenic. It is also amazingly steep. It

I went in Yellowstone's Northeast Gate. There are no campsite available so sometime tonight I will have to go back out the same gate and camp somewhere in the National Forest. Less than a mile from the gate there was several cars pulled over and sure enough a black bear about 100 hards off the road. There was a parking area real close so I parked alongside the drive to it.

Seeing how I'm in no hurry I have been setting here for over an hour watching the bear off and on.

Around 6 I finally decided to go find a place to camp. All the campgrounds were closed so I finally just stopped at the entrance to a road that was closed. I had some beef stew for dinner then I took a shower outside. During the shower Pete of course wanted out but I figured he could wait. I was wrong so I had to clean that mess up.

I watched a movie and called it a night.
