Wednesday 15May19 Van Dwelling
Woke up at 8. Last night's fellow van dweller was a lady with a dog. Her van was a passenger van that she had added window sun screens too. She was well kept, her hair was clean and styled. Pete and Wiggin started barking when she was walking her dog so she saw me and smiled. I wish now that I would have talked to her and found out a little bit about her story.
This morning I took the dogs on a long hike in a wooded area to the side of Walmart.
Wiggin found a gofer on the way back and killed it.
After the hike I went into Walmart to get some supplies. I made the usual breakfast once I got back to the RT.
One thing that I struggle with is the feeling that I'm behind schedule. In my past travels, there was always a known day it would end. It forced me to keep on a schedule. Now it is hard to just relax and take my time. I do believe that I could do this for a long time though. For that to be possible however I cannot be moving 100s of miles every day. That would drive up the fuel cost to where it wouldn't be affordable. I also cannot see every attraction along the way.
I am attempting to stay on a fixed budget. I am in the process of determining what a reasonable budget would be. This Travel Budget is separate from my Home Budget which consists of utilities, auto and home insurance, property tax, vehicle registration, home and vehicle maintenance (other than the RT). I currently have included the RT maintenance expenses in the Travel Budget.
As far as a schedule, this trip is a bit of a compromise since I have a ticket to the Indy 500 on 26May. I have also blocked a couple of weeks rentals on the house starting on 10Jun to do some maintenance. Maybe my fellow van dweller is more experience than I. I noticed that she left at 11:30.
I finally left the Walmart something after noon. I needed to get propane soon so I drove by several gas stations but none sold propane. I finally looked on line and found a propane distributor about 10 miles out of my way. When I got there I was told they could only fill removable tanks and couldn't fill the tank on my RV. In Utah at least 1 out of 4 gas stations have propane and the equipment and training to service any tank or RV. I assume the issue here is some local regulation set up to profit the propane distributors. I finally did find a Flying J truck stop that could fill the RV tank.
I drove on to Geneva State Park on Lake Erie and got a site there at the campground.
Before I camped I stopped at the beach so the dogs could stretch their legs a little.
After we camped I cooked some dinner and now I am working on the journal.
