Sunday 19May19
Woke at 8 and had the usual breakfast minus the grapefruit. I'll need to get some tonight.
I cleaned up and attempted to tame my hair a bit. I drove about 10 miles north from last night's campsite and attended worship service at Valley View Village Church.
Very pretty inside.
A very friendly Church.
After church I drove a little further north to the Canal Exploation Center. I had lunch before checking out the center.
Love hiIn the center I learned a little more about the canal. The speed limit for boats on the canal was 4 mph. The canal was 308 miles long connecting Lake Erie and the Ohio River. The difference in the highest and lowest points was 1206 feet which required 146 locks. A single lock could raise or lower a boat 9 feet. Here is lock number 137 that was restored in 1980.
The building the Canyon Exploration Visitor Center is in was originally a tavern predating the canal.
After checking out the Canal Exploration Center I drove back to Cleveland. I stopped at Edge Water Park which is a little west of downtown Cleveland. I originally went to the beach by myself but later took the dogs.
After spending a couple hours at the beach I went back to the RT and cooked dinner, fish steaks and rice.
Actually pretty tasty.
After dinner I drove East to Lorain and stopped at a Walmart there. Before parking for the night I drove to a post office and mailed the package to Mom and Dad. Back at the Walmart I went in and got some supplies.
