Friday 24May19 RC Aircraft
Pete woke me this morning at 6. After the dogs were done with their business I decided to just get on the road. I drove for about an hour and a half and stopped at a rest stop for breakfast. After the typical breakfast I got back on the road and drove to Fort Wayne IN and stopped for fuel. This is my first time in Indiana. Now I have been in a total of 14 states on this trip. Add Michigan and Indiana to the previous 12 I identified in a earlier post. So far Michigan has had the worst roads by far. They are terrible!
I went into Costco after filling up with fuel and tried all the free samples. There were some bratwurst with potato salad that were yummy. After tasting those bratwurst I went back to RT and had the last two that I had bought a few days ago.
I got back on the road and stopped at a rest stop. There was a brochure about the National Museum of Model Aviation. Since. It was only about 10 miles out of my way I thought I should investigate.
The museum is across the street from Academy of Model Aviation (AMA) Headquarters Building.
The museum was closed but there was a club event on the property, which by the way is hundreds of acres. I finally found the event location and went to the airfield and watched several model aircraft fly.
Electric aircraft are very popular now but there were some gas airplanes as well. There was also some model helicopters. If you have not seen a professional fly a model helicopter you would be shocked at what they can get those eggbeaters to do. I first saw them 20 or so years ago at Thanksgiving Point with Zack.
I moved to a Walmart close to the museum in case I decided to see it I'll be close. It is only about an hour to Indianapolis if I decide not to see the museum.
